Our Annual Fundraisers and Events are described below. Volunteer opportunities may be available for some/all events. Please contact us for information on how you can participate in any of our annual events.
In 1978 the ladies of the Sorosis Club started a fundraiser called The Haunted House. The planning for this event starts as early as the month of May. It takes approximately 3 weeks to build and decorate the club for this annual fund raiser. The doors to this event are open the last two weekends of October for six nights: Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. The Haunted House is our largest fundraiser and with 37 years of experience and counting we can proudly say that we are the best in the area! The money generated from this event enables us to do many great things for the children in our community.
Our Operation Santa Program is funded through local sponsors and donations from the community. The Orange City Lions Club, The City of Orange City, Manatee Festival, and donations from local citizens and businesses provide us with the resources to help those in need at Christmas.
Our goal is to provide a check or gift card to our families. Amounts will depend on the amount of donations received but our goal is to give each Senior Citizen Household $50 for food, parent/guardian and child $25 each for food, and up to $50 per child for toy/gift.
The Sorosis Club Easter egg hunt takes place on the Saturday one week before Easter Sunday. This event is held at Valentine Park in Orange City on French Avenue. Kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, play country games, enjoy a hot dog, chips and a drink all for free! The Easter Bunny arrives via Fire Truck to begin our Egg Hunt. Over 6,000 eggs to be found!! To give everyone a safe and sporting chance at collecting eggs we have divided our egg hunt into age categories including a handicap accessible area for all ages. There are two prize winning eggs in each age group that can be redeemed for a free Easter Basket filled with goodies.
This is a family friendly event and we had a blast last year. We will have water guns, buckets of water, an obstacle course, water relay and other games to play. Moms, Dads, Grandparents and kids are all encouraged to participate. We will have a toddler section for the little ones to splash around in too. Be prepared to get soaked!! Bring towels, drinks and pack a picnic lunch and plan for a couple hours of fun.
Dinner with Santa takes place the on the second Saturday of December, the same day as the Orange City Christmas Parade. This event takes place at 222 East University Avenue at the Orange City Sorosis Club. We have a Santa house with Santa so the kids can get their pictures taken. All of the children will receive a coloring book, crayons and a balloon while supplies last. They can also enjoy a hot dog, chips and a drink - ALL FREE. Be sure to save a spot for the City of Orange City’s Annual Christmas Parade. We usually have a float and throw candy. We look forward to seeing everyone!!
